The job have main objective to apply the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, to determine the state of conservation of the pavement, at Julián Arce Avenue blocks 1 - 4 and La Merced avenue blocks 2-7. One kilometer of track has studied to identify existing faults and to quantify the condition of the track. This job has divided into seven chapters: The first chapter the problematic reality in which the big problem is that it does not take an adequate maintenance much less takes into account the useful life of the track. Justification is important because that one might find some possible solutions for the improvement and prevention of roads, and finally the Goals. In the second chapter the theoretical framework has developed, defining the concept of pavement, its classification and the definition of the Pavement Condition Index. In the third chapter the hypothesis has been formulated ; which it was the next: Applying the pavement condition index method, it determine adequately the state of conservation of the flexible pavement of at the Julián Arce avenue blocks 1 - 4 and La Merced avenue blocks 2-7, definition of variables, type of design, material, technique and limitations . The fourth chapter is the proposal of professional application. The fifth chapter are the results of each sample unit. The sixth chapter presents the conclusions. The seventh chapter the respective recommendations and it concludes that the track studied has a pavement of regular status, with an average PCI of 49.

The present research work was carried out using ASTM manual D6433 Method of the PCI Index of Condition of the Flexible Pavement in the Prolongation Santa Canal Canal Mochica and Avenida América, through the method of the observation of a fault register, it was possible to determine the state Of the pavement according to the established parameters. A single lane was evaluated, with a distance of 1323.66 m, and a width of the lane of 6.80 m. According to the parameters of the PCI it was established that each sample unit should measure 33.94 m in length, resulting in 39 sampling units with an area of 230.79 m2 each of them being realized in July 2017. The study was divided into 6 parts, where the first part deals with the problematic reality that afflicts users because of the bad state in which the roads are, justified by the bad aspect that projects in the city as well as the discomfort of the People, targets is based on determining the current state of track. In the second part is the theoretical framework and the theoretical bases on the concepts of a pavement, classification and procedure of the PCI method. In the third part, this methodology is used to show that this is the type of non-experimental research and a descriptive cross-sectional design, and the fourth part deals with the development of the proposal of the study area. In the fifth part we mention the results obtained, in the sixth part is the conclusion where we are told that the current status of the Prolongación Santa Tramo Canal Mochica and Avenida América needs maintenance to provide better service and safety to the user.
